Xahau: Year Two

Updated

The Xahau network was initialized, roughly, at Halloween, 2023.

Thus, October 30th 2025 is an appropriate point to look back one year and take stock of the prior twelve months. I'll attempt to cover the high points from ~ November 2024 to the present day, in very rough chronological order.

Distribution

Contemporaneous with the Coop Remit announcement in its first form, XAH token distribution also took center stage early in Xahau's second year.

On November 25th, 2024, Wietse Wind announced that he had locked up his company's share of the XAH initial distribution:

Tweet About Xaman Treasury HookTweet About Xaman Treasury Hook

He made the announcement on 'X' after testing the new Treasury hook, and challenged the other large holders of XAH from its initial distribution, to do the same. Thus far, the InFTF - the largest holder organization on XAH - has decided to follow suit, and now stakeholders can view the current status of the two treasury wallets and their locked holdings here: Treasury Dashboard.

In addition to restricting the amount of 'free floating XAH', the other aspect of distribution - the percentage of the outstanding XAH owned by speculators and holders rather than the initial parties to network creation - has been slowly improving.

Exact statistics to track this metric are in progress, and involves indexing the full history of the Xahau network over time.

Coding Contest

The 2025 calendar year started strong with a code competition, organized and documented by Xaman (XRPL Labs). It ran from January 13 to January 31. Judged by a panel of three XRPL Labs team members and one InFTF team member, twelve entries were submitted, and three won prizes of 20,000 XAH, 10,000 XAH, and 5,000 XAH respectively.

To view the details behind each entry, along with the associated code, you can peruse the Github repository: Xahau-Dev-Contest/pulls

List Of Xahau Projects

On June 8th of 2025, I attempted to catalogue all of the major projects that use the Xahau network in some way. A daunting task; but the readers seemed satisfied with the accuracy of the initial listing. The various categories of projects I described were organized into artificial groupings I created, and serve as a benchmark from the summer of this year.

To read the lengthy list and their descriptions, I invite you to read more here: Incomplete List Of Xahau Projects.

Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation (InFTF)

The Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation, otherwise known as the InFTF, is the most well-funded (with XAH) champion organization for the Xahau network.

The foundation pursued a variety of efforts that resulted in high-profile success stories in the last year:

Coop Remit xApp

In February of 2025, the Bank of Oromia cross-border transfer xApp official went live. Announced in early October of 2024, the application - hosted on the Xaman wallet - allows users to send Euros back home to their bank in Ethiopia, converting the money to Ethiopian BIRR in real-time.

the InFTF announced that the application had gone 'live' after the final compliance checks were confirmed. The xApp is officially available for those Xaman users that activate their 'Xahau' wallet.

It was a major win for both the Bank of Oromia, and the small champion organization of the Xahau network.

Xahau Conference

In May of 2025, the InFTF hosted the first Xahau conference, and organized a wide variety of speakers for the event. Attended by both Xahau and XRPL fans alike, eight talks were recorded and published on the organization's channel.

For those that would like to view the discussions and presentations, here is the link: Xahau Conference Playlist

Xahau Website Redesign

While not a major accomplishment like a remittance integration, many Xahau fans appreciated the fantastic work of the InFTF in creating an eye-pleasing new website for the network. It does a terrific job of describing the basics of the new smart contract network, and provides launching-off points for those doing independent research.

Development And Projects

While there are many examples - some described under separate cover - the InFTF members have also pursued individual development projects on the network, such as recreational and educational gaming, a low-fi radio station, various APIs, websites, and other impressive examples.

Forensics

An effort first started for the XRP Community years ago (2018?), the XRP Forensics account has now turned its attention to the Xahau network as well. As the speculator community grows into the hundreds of thousands, there will undoubtedly be a need for an investigative unit to serve the same purpose as it did for the XRP Ledger.

While it's exciting to see this effort start officially, it's also a somber reminder of the crypto industry's vulnerability to scam artists.

EURQ Stablecoin

The surprise announcement on October 30, 2025 furthered the momentum that the Coop Remit xApp represented; while it's not clear if that initial project will benefit in some way directly, the deal that the InFTF helped oversee to bring on Xahau's first stablecoin is an impressive addition to their list of accomplishments during year two.

You can read more about their official announcement, along with my own analysis of some recent, fast-tracked amendment activations here: EURQ On Xahau

Other InFTF Accomplishments

The purpose of my short listing is not to provide the most accurate list of accomplishments for the InFTF, but only to reflect my own 'mental map' of the high-profile, Xahau-related items in my own field of understanding.

To learn more about the InFTF and its goals, you can visit their website here: InFTF Official Website. It's also worth bookmarking their account on 'X': InFTF

Roadmap

The Xahau Roadmap was formally published on January 1st, 2025, and listed some ambitious goals for the year:

Xahau Road MapXahau Road Map

Project L-10K

Project L-10K was the most high-profile item on that list of goals, and the main Xahau website now boasts these advertised transaction speeds:

It is scalable, currently with up to 10,000 transactions per ledger

Exchanges And Off/On Ramps

Two major exchanges and off/on ramps were added to the list after the roadmap was published:

  • BitMart (January 9th, 2025)
  • Coinex (March 27th, 2025)

These exchanges do not (yet) offer service to the U.S. market, so there remains a gap in trade volume as it's reflected in the official numbers on sites like Coinmarketcap, Coingecko, etc...; they do not reflect trading volumes of DEX pairings for XAH & XRP, and XAH & USD, for example, which comprises a measurable percentage of trading volume.

JavaScript Hooks Implementation

The JavaScript hooks implementation saw its first version published; while the performance results were significantly below the processing efficiency of 'C hooks', progress towards the goal of allowing JavaScript coders to create Xahau hooks was completed.

Reconciliation Of Other Roadmap Waypoints

Comprehensive audits and security checks, along with the batch implementation, are both still under way; the roadmap reflects 'calendar' year goals; perhaps this item will see further progress before the end of calendar year 2025? The batch amendment for the XRP Ledger is one amendment actually slated for a core protocol change on Xahau as well, which I've detailed under separate cover: Xahau: Architectural Philosophy

Progress was completed for many sub-items on the Roadmap, and the status of each item was carefully cataloged by Richard Holland in a video update that I published on May 21st of this year.

Richard Holland Providing May 2025 Roadmap UpdateRichard Holland Providing May 2025 Roadmap Update

The progress on these items is amazing from a technical perspective, because many of the items listed either didn't exist at the time of the goal-setting, or were in only experimental phases.

The Xahau team engaged every point listed, though it was an ambitious list. 🫔

Social & Community Metrics

The early "Xahau community" social groups are championed by a small set of high-caliber social influencers, speakers, and writers (like me).

On 'X' (formerly 'Twitter'), there is one large community that many of us have joined called 'Xahau', moderated by CryptoQueenAU, among others. It currently has 651 members; I remember when we celebrated crossing the 100-member mark! There is also a more niche community on 'X' called 'Developer Connect', meant for developers in the Xahau / XRPL space.

Account Activations

One of the metrics that speculators track for crypto networks is 'activated wallets' or number of accounts. It's an interesting barometer that can act as a leading indicator for future network activity.

The 'account activation' chart for Xahau, as of mid-October, looks something like this:

Activated AccountsActivated Accounts

As a comparison, Coinmarketcap lists "103.05K" Litecoin holders as of October 18, 2025. Litecoin has been around since crypto's early days, so Xahau's early wallet numbers are impressive, considering it's only been in existence for two years!

Reflections

As part of the retrospective on Xahau's birthday, Wietse Wind, the most well-known XRP Ledger and Xahau entrepreneur, provided his perspective, which struck me with its incisive, yet humble tone:

"I actually think the greatest achievement of Xahau is the fact that it still exists.
New chain, completely new tech, smart contracts from the ground up (not the millionth evm clone) and that it is safe. Stable.
The fact that basically every recent amendment proposal for e.g. MPT, firewall, succession, literally everything XRPL struggles with, is possible viable and usable on day 1 on Xahau."

Bharath Chari, head of the Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation (InFTF), provided a fact-based take that demonstrated the value that the new smart contract network brings to an entire industry:

"I’m proud of the progress on Xahau in such a short time. Features that are enterprise essential are added to the network with regularity. In conjunction with hooks, I see Xahau making serious inroads in the remittance arena. This is directly in line with our mission to use innovative technology to create inclusion on a global scale.ā€

Their comments reflect the mountain of difficult, sometimes-thankless work that each of their teams accomplished in year two, and more importantly, set the tone for an individuated culture of the community as well.

One that values equal parts, brilliance and hard work.

Hints Of What's Next

In the Xahau community 'X Live' session on October 30, 2025, we discussed the latest developments for the network, including the new EURQ stablecoin project, the IOT project for sensors, and the Hook Store code contest. Those three items alone would comprise an entire years' high-level workplan for a mid-sized business.

I've written about the EURQ announcement, and have plans to research the other two items soon!

In the case of Xahau, they comprise a list that might be added to the beginning of the year (three) accomplishments.

Year Three Begins

The Roadmap - and most business plans - revolve around the calendar year cycle.

However, it's a fascinating exercise to stop and take stock of progress of the Xahau network at its official 'birthdays' around Halloween of each year. Strange that its beginning date during the year was similar to Bitcoin's; and it's also striking that the network name - 'Xahau' - is so similar to what many consider the universal ticker for gold: 'XAU'.

The roadmap will be revisited at the end of the next two months, but this preview shows us that almost all of the items have been either successfully completed, addressed, or experimented with in some major capacity.

My own satisfaction in year two revolves around the liquidity corridors having been extended so dramatically in the early days; three centralized exchange listings in such a short time is very beneficial long-term to the health of the network. While a U.S. corridor is still TBD, the second year cemented Xahau's upward mobility.

In addition, the Xahau community of developers, fans, speculators, and entrepreneurs is steadily growing, thanks to the efforts of early adopters and their amazing character of open communication and willingness to help others. I'm proud to be part of history in the making.

Year three awaits. X>
